Natural astaxanthin provides preventive health solutions

Fi/Hi Europe 2021, booth 30J63: AstaReal presents immune support and healthy ageing innovations

Nacka (Sweden), September 2021 – At this year’s Fi/Hi Europe, AstaReal will present its concepts for immunity and healthy ageing with natural AstaReal® astaxanthin. From gummies to liquid shots and sachets, the global astaxanthin pioneer will highlight innovative prototypes that can be used for various formulas targeting muscle recovery, cognitive functions, cardiovascular wellbeing, skin health, vision and immunity.

AstaReal® astaxanthin offers product developers a broad range of combination and dosage options, including capsule, liquid shot, sachet or soft gum format. Plus, it can be combined with a range of other ingredients for multiple health benefits. For instance, the company has developed K2Vital Vision Gums with Kappa Bioscience – a product containing natural astaxanthin along with various other nutrients, vitamins and minerals to fight age-related eye problems.

Combinations with zinc provide extra muscle support; while collagen offers synergistic skin health benefits. Mimicking its natural presence in krill oil, astaxanthin partners beautifully with omega-3s such as DHA and EPA, too, to offer cognitive and heart health benefits. In terms of immunity, it can be easily combined with other immune health-boosters such as vitamin C or D, zinc, elderberry extract or ubiquinol. The latter was successfully tested at lab-scale with soft gums containing 4mg AstaReal® astaxanthin and 100mg Kaneka Ubiquinol™ – a concept which offers various product positioning possibilities. In addition to supporting immune health, astaxanthin and ubiquinol provide a broad range of other benefits, for example, for cardiovascular, skin and muscle health. With this nutrient combination, it’s possible to get support for all of these in just one supplement.

Peter Ahlm, Marketing & Sales Manager at AstaReal, explains: “As a result of the pandemic, there is increased and ongoing demand for nutraceuticals. While it’s true that there are more products with immune health claims entering the arena than ever before, this also presents an opportunity for manufacturers to stand out from the crowd with higher quality, functional ingredients and innovative dosage forms. The consumer desire for combined formulations with multiple benefits, and growing awareness of the advantages of supplements that support overall health, will further fuel the market. As this presents big opportunities for astaxanthin too, we are focusing on immunity and healthy ageing solutions at this year’s Fi/Hi Europe.”
