Flower Power: Lycored Celebrates People, the Planet, and Carbon Reduction

Recently, Lycored formed a wall filled with hundreds of marigolds and shared them with passersby to showcase its global sustainability efforts as part of the company’s sixth annual Heart + Soil Day event. On September 25, the company gave out marigolds with marigold seed packs to anyone passing the flower wall in California to highlight its work, show kindness to people and the planet.

  The flowers were organized in the shape of a footprint, and as they were being handed out, the footprint slowly disappeared to reveal the image of one of the company’s farms. The wall was also created to showcase a visual reminder of how planting and plant-based nutrition can help in reducing the carbon footprint.

Lycored grows enough potatoes annually to provide oxygen for 260,000 individuals and has been taking action to maximize the sustainability of its operations. The approaches comprise recycling 73% of the water used to grow tomatoes and reducing energy consumption by about 17% percent. The organization earned recognition from one of the world’s premier business awards last year for its commitment to reduce waste.

The flower wall is among the events taking place globally to mark Heart + Soil Day, which sees Lycored forge on with its drive to celebrate the natural world and promote social good through community-based activities. In Ukraine, the company is renovating a dispensary that gives medical assistance to individuals living in a village without a hospital. Additionally, a team in Switzerland prepared a three-course meal for patrons of the Schaffhausen Gassenkuche, a soup kitchen giving food to the homeless and disadvantaged. The US team is currently working with Together We Rise to decorate and assemble ‘Sweet Cases’- packed with teddy bears, blankets, and writing notes of nourishment for foster children.

We want to inspire people to enjoy all the riches around us and remind them that every facet of our world is truly awe-inspiring, particularly our relationship to it. We’re also taking the social dimension to a new level this year by supporting a series of exciting initiatives to nourish communities around the world,” said Zev Ziegler, Head of Global Brand and Marketing, Health, at Lycored.
