At Vitafoods Europe 2021, Euromed showcased its extended range of Mediterranean fruit and vegetable extracts for muscle and joint support.
The range now includes lemon extracts, which are sustainably sourced and gently processed with Pure-Hydro ProcessTM water-only extraction technology. This methodology preserves natural ingredients while avoiding undesirable residues of organic solvents. Euromed’s botanical compounds are suitable for dietary supplements, functional foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetic applications.
Now more than ever, health prevention is on everybody’s radar. Not only do people aim to strengthen the immune system but also keep fit as long as possible. The Mediterranean diet offers many fruits and vegetables that support these aims with polyphenols, antioxidants, and other valuable nutrients. This aspect is the primary reason why Euromed has added lemon to its existing range of olive, pomegranate, fig, and artichoke extracts.
Euromed also highlighted WellmonTM, an extract for Spanish lemon fruit with standardized content of natural flavonoid eriocitrin. Among citrus species, lemons have the highest range of eriocitrin, which is known for its potential to support cardiovascular health, the venous system, and healthy aging. Moreover, a clinical study has demonstrated that eriocitrin has a higher bioavailability than analogs such as hesperidin from oranges, thanks to its superior water solubility.
“Consumers not only want to live to a ripe old age but also remain fit and healthy for as long as possible. Visitors to our stand learned how our newly launched and existing Mediterranean fruit and vegetable extracts could help meet this market demand,” said Andrea Zangara, Head of Scientific Communications & Marketing, Euromed.
